Pearls and Swines cares greatly about your privacy. We exclusively process data that we need for (improving) our services and handle all information gathered about you and your use of our services with care. Your data is not shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
This privacy policy applies to the use of the website and the services provided by Pearls and Swines. The effective date for the validity of these terms is 08/09/2025; with the publication of a new version, all previous versions become void.
This privacy policy describes what information about you is collected by us, what this data is used for, and with whom and under what conditions this data may be shared with third parties. We also explain to you how we store your data, how we protect your data against misuse, and what rights you have regarding the personal data you provide to us.

2. Purpose of data processing
General purpose
We use your data solely for providing our services to you. This means that the purpose of processing is directly related to the assignment or task you give us. We do not use this data for (targeted) marketing purposes. If you share information with us and we use this information to contact you at a later time – not based on a request – we will ask for your explicit consent first.
Your data is not shared with third parties for any other purpose than to fulfil accounting and administrative obligations. These third parties are all obligated to confidentiality based on the agreement we have with them, an oath, or a legal obligation.
Automatically collected data
Information automatically collected by our website is processed with the sole purpose of providing you with and/or improving our services. This information (for instance, your IP address (anonymized), web browser, and operating system) is not personal information.
Cooperation in tax and criminal investigations
In some cases, we may be obligated by the government to share your information under a lawful duty to assist in a fiscal or criminal investigation. In such cases, we are forced to comply and assist but will, based on lawful possibilities, raise an objection.
Data breach notification
In the event of a breach of personal data (a data breach), we are obliged to report this to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) within 72 hours of discovery, unless the breach is unlikely to pose a risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons. If the breach is likely to result in a high risk to your rights and freedoms, we will inform you of the breach without undue delay. We maintain a record of all data breaches that occur.

Webshop software: Shopify
Our webshop has been developed using Shopify software. Personal data gathered through the use of our website and services is shared with Shopify. Shopify requires access to these details to provide (technical) support. They will not use this data for any other purposes. Shopify is obligated, based on the agreement we have with them, to take necessary precautions and security measures regarding your personal data. Shopify is a certified processor of credit card information.
Shopify uses cookies to gather technical information about the use of the software. No personal data is gathered and/or stored. Shopify reserves the right to share the gathered data internally to improve its own services. Shopify does not store your data for longer than the legal periods allow. The EU/US Privacy Shield applies, and your data may be processed in the United States.
Web hosting: MijnDomein
We use the web hosting and email services of MijnDomein. MijnDomein processes personal data on our behalf and will not use this data for its own purposes. However, this party may collect metadata about the use of their services. This is not personal data. MijnDomein has taken necessary technical and organisational precautions and security measures to prevent loss, abuse, and misuse of your personal data. MijnDomein is bound by a duty of confidentiality based on the agreement we have with them.
Email and mailing lists: My webhost
For our regular business email, we use the email services of My webhost. This party has implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to prevent misuse, loss, or corruption of your data. My webhost does not have access to our mailbox, and we treat our email traffic confidentially.
Payment processors & Reviews: Valued Shops
We use Valued Shops to gather reviews. To leave a review, you are required to fill in your email address, name, and place of residence. Valued Shops shares certain data with us that is required to match your review to your order. Furthermore, Valued Shops publishes your name and place of residence on its own website. In some instances, Valued Shops may contact you to ask you to clarify, elaborate, or comment on your review.
In the case of one of our review requests, we share your name and email address with Valued Shops. They use this information with the sole purpose of inviting you to leave a review. Valued Shops has implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data. Valued Shops retains the right to use your personal information to offer their services and share it with third parties; we have given Valued Shops permission to do so. All the aforementioned guarantees regarding the protection of your personal data also apply to any services by Valued Shops that use third parties.
Valued Shops
We collect reviews via the Valued Shops platform. If you leave a review via Valued Shops, you are required to provide your name, place of residence, and email address. Valued Shops shares this data with us so that we can link the review to your order. Valued Shops also publishes your name and place of residence on its own website. In some cases, Valued Shops may contact you to request clarification regarding your review. In the event that we invite you to leave a review, we share your name and email address with Valued Shops. They use this data solely for the purpose of inviting you to leave a review. Valued Shops has implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data. Valued Shops reserves the right to engage third parties to provide its services; we have given Valued Shops permission to do this. All the aforementioned safeguards regarding the protection of your personal data also apply to the parts of the service for which Valued Shops engages third parties.
Transport and logistics
We use the services of PostNL, DHL, and GLS to have your order successfully delivered to you. For a successful delivery, it is necessary that we share your name, address, and residential details with these parties. They use this information solely for the performance of the delivery agreement. In case these parties hire subcontractors, they will share said information with these parties.
Cookies and similar techniques
We use cookies and similar techniques on our website. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device by your browser when you visit our website. We use cookies for functional purposes, such as remembering the contents of your shopping cart, and for analytical purposes, such as measuring visitor behavior to improve our website.

4. Retention periods
We store your data for as long as you are a client of ours. This means that we maintain your client profile until you inform us that you no longer wish to use our services. Such a message also functions as a request for erasure ('right to be forgotten'). We will therefore not retain your data for more than two years after your last contact or transaction, unless there is a legal justification for doing so.
We are required to keep invoices with your (personal) information due to relevant administrative obligations; this information is stored securely for as long as the relevant retention period for these obligations has not yet passed. Our personnel will no longer have access to your client profile and any documents created due to your assignment.
5. Your rights
Under applicable Dutch and European law, you, as a data subject, have certain rights concerning the personal data processed by or on behalf of us. Below we explain these rights and how you can exercise them.
To prevent abuse, we generally only send invoices and copies of your data to email addresses that you have provided to us. Should you wish to receive this data at a different email address or by mail, we will ask you to identify yourself accordingly. We maintain a record of completed requests; in the case of a request for erasure, we will maintain a record of anonymized data. You will receive all invoices and copies of data in machine-readable files, structured according to the data classifications we use within our system.
You retain the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) at any time if you suspect that we are misusing or mishandling your personal data.
Right of access
You have the right to access the data we process that relates to or can be linked to your person. You can submit a request for access to our privacy contact person. You will receive a response to your request within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you a copy of all data to the email address we have on file, along with a list of processors handling this data and the categories under which we store this data.
Right to rectification
You have the right to have the data we process that relates to you rectified if it is inaccurate. You can submit a request for correction to our privacy contact person. You will receive a response within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you a confirmation to the email address we have on file that the data has been adjusted.
Right to restriction of processing
You have the right to restrict the processing of your personal data. You can submit a request for restriction to our privacy contact person. You will receive a response within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you a confirmation that the processing of your data has been restricted until you lift the restriction.
Right to data portability
You have the right to request the transfer of the data we process about you to a third party of your choice. You can submit such a request to our privacy contact person. You will receive a response within 30 days. If your request is granted, we will send you your (personal) data or invoices in a machine-readable format to the email address we have on file. Please note that we may no longer be able to provide our services to you in this case, as we can no longer guarantee the same level of data security.
Right to object and other rights
You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data by us or on our behalf by third parties. In case of such an objection, we will immediately cease the processing of your data while your objection is being investigated and handled. If your objection is justified, we will return all processed data to you and cease processing thereafter.
You also have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing – including profiling – which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you. We assure you that our services do not use automated decision-making that has such consequences. Should you believe that this right does apply, we ask you to contact our privacy contact person.
